The Cost

Carlo will be studying Business Administration at the University of San Carlos in Cebu City. It's a five-year program, but he will go to school for four years, full-time (summers included), to complete the program sooner. The budget breakdown of Carlo's tuition and additional expenses are shown below. Initially, I had considered only paying for the tuition fees and leaving it up to Carlo to figure out how to cover the cost of books and meals. But the reality is that even the cost of an initial health checkup (about $20) is far beyond what Carlo's family is able to afford. I've realized that if I'm going to support Carlo through college, I have to go all-in.

Carlo's parents are covering the daily transportation costs for Carlo to travel the 30 minute trip to the university and back every day, which is a significant and meaningful commitment.

The total cost of Carlo's degree is $7,966. My goal is to raise enough to cover the first two years, or $4,000, through my network of friends and family. If you can spread the word to your own networks, that would help too.

There are three semesters each year. I will be making wire transfers to the JPIC-IDC American bank account in June, October, and March with each semester's payment.

All funds will be administered by JPIC-IDC and their young scholars program. No money will go directly to Carlo.

Donations will be deposited into a secure account to be held until the next payment is due. If you make a donation to College for Carlo, you will receive a receipt for your donation and be updated regularly about the progress of Carlo's education.

Should, for any reason, Carlo not achieve his goal of finishing his college education, all donations which have not already gone towards Carlo's tuition will be donated in to the JPIC-IDC young scholars program.

Below is the breakdown of costs from the JPIC-IDC financial officer. Please fell free to contact me with any questions.

Here is the yearly break-down of costs. These totals will be divided by 3, and these smaller amounts will be paid 3-times a year.
