HELPING A FILIPINO TEENAGER GET A UNIVERSITY DEGREE

Carlo (left) and a friend at his high school graduation, Mar. 2011.
What is College for Carlo? In short, it's a fundraising initiative. Carlo Majo, 17, just graduated from high school, and now he wants to go to university. The problem is, his family of five lives on about $12 a week, and paying for college isn't really an option. Having a university eduction would change Carlo's life, and the life of his family. So I've made a commitment to help him. In order to do so, I need your help too.

Sending Carlo to college will cost $7,966, which includes tuition, books, a meal allowance, and health services. At present, I'm not in a position to cover the entire cost over his four years of college. So I'm asking if you would be willing to contribute to this worthy cause. My goal now is to raise enough to cover the first two years, about $4,000.
